The Nazis had incarcerated these Dutch ladies for aiding Jews in Haarlem. Sitting outside in the sleet and rain, lying in lice- infested beds, stripped naked before leering male guards, these two ladies of faith would quietly sing and praise the Lord. One of their favorite gospel songs was "Lead, kindly light, amid the encircling gloom .... I do not ask to see the distant scene, One step's enough for me." Eventually Betsie quietly joined the more than 95,000 women who died at Ravensbruck, but Corrie was miraculously released to go and witness around the world. --- Lord, with the help of Your Spirit I sing a song of praise in the midst of the chaos and calamities of life, knowing that the battle is in Your hands.
