~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
"It is better to sleep on what you plan to do than to be kept awake by what you've done."
Bill Cashman told several years ago of preaching a revival in another church. While there, a young boy took a special interest in Cashman, sitting beside him every evening. If Cashman was on the platform, that's where the little boy sat; if on a pew, the little boy sat with him on the pew. Cashman said that the little boy was not a bother, that he just wanted to sit with him. Later, Cashman found out that the boy's parents did not attend church.
"One evening I was sitting on the first pew," wrote Cashman. "He came and snuggled up real close. He looked up and asked me, 'Why are you a preacher?'
"I replied to him, 'Because that is what God told me He wanted me to be.' He paused a moment and then stated, 'God told me just to be a kid.' "
Cashman wrote, "His response struck me. I wonder how many of God's people really know just what God wants them to be?"
~~~~~~~ THIS & THAT:

If you are a Star Trek fan, you may especially enjoy this. This poem was written by an android. Thus the technical language.

Felis Cattus, is your taxonomic nomenclature,
an endothermic quadruped carnivorous by nature?
Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses
contribute to your hunting skills, and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
a singular development of cat communications
that obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
for a rhythmic stroking of your fur, to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
you would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aide in locomotion,
it often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

O Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display
connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

One evening while I was preparing dinner my daughter came into the kitchen asking for homework help on her vocabulary words.

"Mom," she asked, "what's a quarter horse?"

As I thought of a simple explanation, my five year-old piped up, "I know. It's the one they have in front of the grocery store!"

~~~~~~~ TRIVIA:
Mathematics teachers at the Sleaford, England, Secondary School awarded the arithmetic prize to the wrong team in a school competition because, they apologized later, they'd added up the scores wrong.
