WITandWISDOM(tm) - February 25, 2002 ~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS: Money is a singular thing. It ranks with love as man's greatest source of joy. And with death as his greatest source of anxiety. - John Kenneth Galbraith Source: Peter's Pearls, http://www.peterspearls.com.au Subjects: Money ~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS: GOD IS A LITTLE LIKE... But her 4-year-old overheard some of her parents' private conversations. One day when Diane and her 4-year-old were shopping a woman asked the little girl if she was excited about the new baby. "Oh, yes!" the 4-year-old said, "and I know what we are going to name it. If it's a girl we're going to call her Christina, and if it's a boy we're going to call it quits!" Pancevo, Yugoslavia (Ananova): A paranoid man who buried his life-savings has had to dig up the cash again to get it changed into euros. The Yugoslav had kept his savings in German marks. The man from Pancevo buried his hoard worth £8,000 in five separate holes and sealed them with concrete and asphalt. Named only as Djordje M, the man says he didn't trust local currencies, but realized he had to act as the euro replaces the mark. He said: "I thought if thieves come one day they would need to spend plenty of time finding and opening my five safes underground. Even if they found one of my safes they would probably leave four others." Djordje says he now has a new hiding place for his euros, but it is a secret.
