~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
"The minute you start talking about what you are going to do if you lose, you have lost." - George Schultz
Subjects: Losing
This interview is between the Holy Land Press (Press) and Moses.
Part 2 of 2 [Apr 2, 12]
PRESS: Soon after your escape . . .
MOSES: Our deliverance.
PRESS: What's the difference?
MOSES: There is a big difference. When you escape, you do it. When you are delivered, someone else does it and you just follow.
PRESS: Okay, soon after your deliverance, you battled with the Ammo . . . Amala . . . let's see, I have it here . . .
MOSES: The Amalekites.
PRESS: Yeah, the Amalekites.
MOSES: Big people. Strong fighters. Mean as snakes.
PRESS: But you won.
MOSES: God won.
PRESS: Okay - God won - but you did the work. You fought the battle. You were on the field.
MOSES: Wrong.
PRESS: What? You weren't in the battle?
MOSES: Not that one. While the army was fighting, I took my friends Aaron and Hur to the top of a hill and we did our fighting up there.
PRESS: With each other?
MOSES: With the darkness.
PRESS: With swords?
MOSES: No, in prayer. I just lifted my hands to God, like I did at the Red Sea. When I lifted my hands, we would win, but when I would lower my arms we would lose. So I got my friends to hold up my arms until the Amalekites were history and we won.
PRESS: Hold on a second. You think that standing on a hill with your hands in the air made a difference?
MOSES: You don't see any Amalekites around, do you?
PRESS: Don't you think it strange that the general of the army stays on the mountain while the soldiers fight in the valley?
MOSES: If the battle had been in the valley I would have gone, but that's not where the battle was being fought.
PRESS: Odd, this strategy of yours.
MOSES: Seen any Jews building pyramids lately?
PRESS: Let me see if I've got this straight. Once you defeat the enemy by standing still and another time you win the battle by holding up your hands. Where did you pick all this up?
MOSES: Well, if I told you, you wouldn't believe me.
PRESS: Try me.
MOSES: Well, you see, there was this bush on fire and it spoke to me . . .
PRESS: Maybe you're right. We'll save that one for another day.
Every other vehicle is a 4x4.
The sun goes down and you immediately grab your coat.
You hear the words "stream" or "brook" pronounced as "crick".
The elevation exceeds the population of your town.
You can pay for a "Big Mac" with a personal check.
There's a Bison in your lane.
People drive 200+ miles to shop at a mall.
You got a set of new snow tires for Valentine's Day.
The term "wind chill factor" is part of your daily vocabulary.
The bumper jack in your pickup will lift a house.
You put on a pair of snowboots to get the morning paper.
A girls' basketball game fills the school gym.
You put the car heater on your list of best friends.
Tractors are a normal part of traffic.
You use your back porch as a freezer from October thru May.
Your telephone book is smaller than most magazines.
Dressing up means wearing a clean flannel shirt and jeans that aren't too dirty.
You consider someone a neighbor if they only live 6 or 7 miles away.
You wave to every car on the highway, whether you're on foot or driving or even sitting on the creek bank with your back to the road.
You ignore the center line and drive on whichever part of the road is smoothest, driest, or feels safest.
