~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
The collapse of character begins with compromise.
~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS:

Long ago an officer of the United States Army was stationed in Boston. He soon found that his fine horse Charlie, would be of no use to him in the city.

So he sent him into the country. In the pasture there were several horses; and among them, one poor, forlorn old horse, called Paddy, who was constantly teased and worried by the other more frisky horses.

When Charlie, who was a superb animal, arrived, what do you suppose he did? Did he join the others in tormenting poor, harmless old Paddy? No, very far from that.

As soon as he saw how the old horse was treated, Charlie lost no time in making himself his protector. He guarded the trough, and would not let the other horses have a drop to drink until Paddy had his full share. They all looked up to Charlie, and when they found that old Paddy had such a powerful friend, they gave up their ugly teasing ways.

So you see it is with animals as it is with everyone; the truly brave ones always protect the weak. Cowards are only too fond of abusing those not strong enough to defend themselves.

~~~~~~~ THIS & THAT:
Gluckstadt, Germany (Gazet van Antwerpen):
A police camera has filmed a duck breaking the speed limit in Germany.
It registered 39 kilometres an hour in a 30 kilometre an hour zone.
The duck was flying a few centimetres above street level in Glückstadt when it triggered the speed camera.
A police spokesman told the Gazet van Antwerpen newspaper: "We think in reality she was going a bit faster.
"The camera wasn't able to register it very well because she was moving her wings very fast."
The spokesman says they haven't been able to trace the offender but she is free to go.
~~~~~~~ KEEP SMILING:

"A precocious 4-year-old was brought to the ER with a severe cough," a nurse writes. "She kept up a non-stop conversation while I was trying to assess her lung sounds. Finally, I said, 'Shhh, I have to see if Barney is in there.' The child looked at me and calmly stated, 'I have Jesus in my heart. Barney is on my underwear.' "

COMPUTER TIPS
Easy Folder Expand & Contract

It can be a pain to expand several folders in Windows Explorer by clicking on the plus sign (+) for each and every sub-directory, just to get to one buried deep inside a folder. Did you know you can open or close all the sub-folders in any folder with one keystroke? I know, you know but forgot how - well, it's my job to remind you.

While in Windows Explorer, simple highlight the parent folder you wish to expand and press the asterisk ( * ) key on the numbers pad and all the sub-folders will expand. Note, you must use the numbers pad on the right side of your keyboard, not the Shift and Asterisk above the letters pad. Press the minus key ( - ) on the numbers pad to close all folders.

This works in Outlook Express and probably many other programs that use the Explorer style interface.
