Bechtel ~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS: In Hampton Sides' book, Ghost Soldiers, the epic account of the liberation of the Bataan Death March survivors in World War II, there was a situation which defied logic. Liberation of the prisoners, what they had hoped and prayed for, many long and trying years was at hand. Many hid and took cover, not wanting any part of it. Even the American commander of the forlorn group "was digging in his heels, refusing to go, even refusing to let the Rangers escort others out." (page 277). There is a message for all of us here. When our "hour of liberation" occurs, what will our actions be? Are we really prepared to accept the greatest thing that could happen to us? Submitted by R. P. Too many couples marry for better or for worse, but not for good. When a man marries a woman, they become one, but the trouble starts when they try to decide which one. If a man has enough "horse sense" to treat his wife like a thoroughbred, she will never be an old nag. On anniversaries the wise husband always forgets the past... but never the present. The bonds of matrimony are a good investment only when the interest is kept up.
