~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
In our daily lives, we must see that it is not happiness that makes us grateful, but the gratefulness that makes us happy.
I was having an emotional meltdown the other day. My outbursts were triggered by an overwhelming assortment of paperwork, bills, and deadlines. The papyrus mafia was giving me the ole' squeeze. My family, aware of my fragile mental state, huddled in the kitchen. No one dared ask Mom what was for supper; it was an unspoken decree that the men were cooking that night!
As I was muttering, sniffling, and shuffling papers, my attention was diverted by the voice of my eight-year-old son. He was putting feet to the 1 Corinthians 13 love passage. As he
helped prepare supper, he peppered the room with insightful comments: "Dad, we could rub Mom's feet," he suggested. "How about giving her a nice back rub?" "At times like this
Mom just needs to know how much we care for her." "We could cook supper every night." "And we especially need to pray for her.
Wow! My frustration melted away as I cherished the realization of what a loving young man he had become.
