~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right. - Max Lucado (He Still Moves Stones)
~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS:

"When I was a boy, my father, a baker, introduced me to the wonders of song," tenor Luciano Pavarotti relates. "He urged me to work very hard to develop my voice. Arrigo Pola, a professional tenor in my hometown of Modena, Italy, took me as a pupil. I also enrolled in a teachers college. On graduating, I asked my father, 'Shall I be a teacher or a singer?'

"'Luciano,' my father replied, 'if you try to sit on two chairs, you will fall between them. For life, you must choose one chair.'

"I chose one. It took seven years of study and frustration before I made my first professional appearance. It took another seven to reach the Metropolitan Opera. And now I think whether it's laying bricks, writing a book--whatever we choose--we should give ourselves to it. Commitment, that's the key. Choose one chair."

~~~~~~~ THIS & THAT:
A number of years ago a freshman at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment. In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide."
And, for plenty of good reasons, since:
1. it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting
2. it is a major component in acid rain
3. it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
4. accidental inhalation can kill you
5. it contributes to erosion
6. it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
7. it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients
He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.
Forty three (43) said yes,
six (6) were undecided,
and only one (1) knew that the chemical was.
Dihydrogen monoxide is water!
The title of his prize winning project: "How Gullible Are We?"
~~~~~~~ KEEP SMILING:

"I don't know what's wrong with my television set. I was getting C-Span and the Home Shopping Network on the same station. I actually bought a congressman." - Bruce Baum

~~~~~~~ TRIVIA:
Stop, thief!
It seems that an article I wrote for Microsoft's small business site was quite popular. You see, several sites "borrowed" large portions of it.
There are literally billions of pages on the Web. So how did I find the ones that stole my work?
I used Copyscape. I entered the address of the page I wanted to check. A few seconds later, I got a list of matching results. Passages that matched what I wrote were highlighted. So it was easy to verify the stolen parts.
Copyscape has resources that will help you deal with plagiarism. First, put a banner on your site to let plagiarists know you're watching. It also links to a database that lists the contact information for Web site owners.
