WITandWISDOM(tm) - December 8, 2005 ISSN 1538-8794 ~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS: Success is not counted by how high you have climbed but by how many you brought with you. - Wil Rose Source: DailyInBox Presents, http://dailyinbox.com ~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS: "In one of my parishes," wrote a pastor, "there resided a school superintendent and his family. They lived through a time of great tension between the School Board and the teachers' union. They even received threats that their home would be burned. Their son David had the highest SAT scores in the school, a triple A rating on the tuba, was extremely active in school functions, had an almost 97% average, yet was blackballed from the National Honor Society because of the feud between the administration and the teachers. His parents were heartbroken, but after some brief moments of anger and resentment, David announced: 'I don't need them to tell me who I am.' -Homiletics, November 24, 1991 Source: Weekend Encounter, by Dick Innes, Copyright (c) ACTS International, 2004, http://www.actsweb.org/subscribe.htm ~~~~~~~ THIS & THAT: The top signs that your co-worker is a computer hacker... You ticked him off once and your next phone bill was $20,000. He's won the Publisher's Clearing House sweepstakes three years running. When asked for his phone number, he gives it in hex. Seems strangely calm whenever the office LAN goes down. Somehow he/she gets HBO on his PC at work. Mumbled, "Oh, puh-leeez" 95 times during the movie "The Net" When his computer starts up, you hear, "Good Morning, Mr. President." Nathan, our eight-year-old, worriedly asked, "How will we keep from getting separated?" "We'll drive slow so one car can follow the other," I reassured him. "Yeah, but what if we get separated?" he persisted. "Then I guess we'll never see each other again," I quipped. "Okay," he said, "I 'm riding with Mom.” Jim C. Eleven days before the statute of limitations was to expire on the Brink's robbery in Boston, Massachusetts, that netted nearly $3 million in January 1950, one of the robbers confessed and betrayed his fellow robbers. http://www.fbi.gov/libref/historic/famcases/brinks/brinks.htm Source: ArcaMax - Trivia, http://tinyurl.com/9kf44 |
