~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
Patience has its limits. Take it too far, and it's cowardice. - George Jackson
~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS:

When working with the recovering teens, and training our staff, we had meetings on how we could make things better. We decided that to really change situations and relationships the change must begin with each individual personally. In order to do this, I felt we had to recognize our strengths and our weaknesses and identify those things we could change and those we could not.

So I started groups called "Becoming."

Each person in the group would get a little pad and pen. Sometimes we would sit in a circle, sometimes we sat at long tables. Other times we would be out in a park. Any place would do, as long as the participants were comfortable and relaxed.

On the first page, they were to list the things they liked about themselves.

The second page, they were to list the things that they disliked about themselves.

The third page, the things they could change.

And the forth page, were the things they felt that they couldn't change about themselves.

On the last page, they were asked to put down something nice or positive that they liked in another person and to write down that person’s name.

They didn't have to sign any of the slips of paper but they would be read out loud later. After they finished the writing task, they put all the slips of paper in a large bucket. Each person would then get a chance to pick out one page and give it to me to read.

Now the fun really began.

After I read the first sheet, "What do you like about yourself?" I asked how many in the group felt the same way as the writer did? Almost everyone raised their hand.

Then it was what they disliked about themselves. Again the same reaction...almost everyone felt the same things the writer felt…and so on. Soon they began to realize they all felt the same about most of the things they wrote about.

Every one was smiling as they heard what people liked about each individual and again, most of them agreed with the writer.

Soon they were all smiling and laughing!

And realizing they were all on the way to "Becoming" — Becoming the person God wanted them to be.

~~~~~~~ THIS & THAT:
WARNING: Groaner
The driver of a huge tractor-trailer lost control of his rig, he plowed into an empty tollbooth and smashed it to pieces. He climbed down from his truck and looked at the wreckage, not quite sure what to do.
Within a matter of minutes, another truck pulled up and unloaded a crew of workers.
The men picked up each broken piece of the former tollbooth and spread some kind of white creamy substance on it. Then they began fitting the pieces together. In less than an hour, they had the entire tollbooth reconstructed and good as new.
"Astonishing!" the truck driver said to the crew chief. "What was that white stuff you used to get all of the pieces together?"
The crew chief said, "Oh, that was tollgate booth paste."
Utility is when you have one telephone, luxury is when you have two, and paradise is when you have none.
