LaFond-Lewis Source: Inspire, http://www.inspirelist.com/ ~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS: I recall a story about a Mrs. Louise Dubay of Anchorage, Alaska, who was sick in bed and so badly crippled that she was totally dependent on friends to bring in supplies of food and of wood for her stove. But one day when her friends didn't come and the temperature had fallen to 30 degrees below zero, a real need arose. With no wood to warm her and the coldness of winter closing in, she prayed for help and understanding. Just then the door opened and a tall young man walked into the room, carrying an armload of wood. He lighted the fire, placed a kettle of water on the stove, and went outside again, to return for the second time with an armload of firewood. Was he possibly an angel? She had never seen him before, yet she felt afraid to ask him out loud. Mentally she directed the questioning words to him, and suddenly he turned toward her with a soft smile and nodded! Mrs. Dubay related to a friend later on, "His face was so noble that I knew he could not be from this world. He looked at me, turned, and opened the door; and before I knew it, he had left without saying a word." A quick check outside the house confirmed her impression. There were no footprints in the freshly fallen snow either to the right or to the left of the house, and the snow around the woodpile lay still undisturbed. Does God send His helping angels to those who believe in Him? Mrs. Dubay has no doubt about it. The tour guide led the students to a glass-enclosed room. They could see several people in white lab coats. With her back to the glass, the guide announced: "In this room researchers are actively searching for a cure for cancer." She stopped short as the group broke out laughing. Puzzled, the guide turned to look. Through the glass she saw three scientists in animated debate, flipping through the Yellow Pages. Submitted by B. B. ~~~~~~~ TRIVIA: A pensioner who had been deaf for 15 years got his hearing back on a skiing trip. Derek Glover, 72, was descending from 7,000ft in a cable car when his ears "popped" and he was hit by an "incredible wave" of noise. Derek from Bourne, Lincolnshire, has thrown away his two hearing aids. Experts believe that a sudden change in air pressure may explain the return of his hearing. According to the Daily Express Derek said: "I kept quiet at first when we got home because I thought my hearing loss would return. But a nurse examined my ears and found they were fine.
