WITandWISDOM(tm) - June 21, 2006 ISSN 1538-8794 ~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS: Whoever said you can’t buy happiness, forgot about dogs. Submitted by Angelwings ~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS: Writer Charles Swindoll once found himself with too many commitments in too few days. He got nervous and tense about it. "I was snapping at my wife and our children, choking down my food at mealtimes, and feeling irritated at those unexpected interruptions through the day," he recalled in his book Stress Fractures. "Before long, things around our home started reflecting the patter of my hurry-up style. It was become unbearable. "I distinctly remember after supper one evening, the words of our younger daughter, Colleen. She wanted to tell me something important that had happened to her at school that day. She began hurriedly, ’Daddy, I wanna tell you somethin’ and I’ll tell you really fast.’ "Suddenly realizing her frustration, I answered, ’Honey, you can tell me -- and you don’t have to tell me really fast. Say it slowly." "I’ll never forget her answer: ’Then listen slowly.’" From: Bits & Pieces, June 24, 1993, Page 13-14. We're all refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view. I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce. It's a thankless job, but I've got a lot of karma to burn off. No, my powers can only be used for good. How about never? Is never good for you? You sound reasonable... Time to up my medication. I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message... I don't work here. I'm a consultant. Who me? I just wander from room to room. It might look like I'm doing nothing, but at the cellular level I'm really quite busy. Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject. The pastor felt that his church was a bit stuffy and could use a bit of friendliness. So, at Sunday morning worship he announced that next week they would initiate this custom of greeting one another. At the close of this same worship service one man turned around to the lady behind him and said a cheerful, “Good morning!” She looked back at him with shock at his boldness and said, “I beg your pardon! That friendliness business doesn’t start until next Sunday!” Source: SermonCentral Weekly Newsletter, http://www.sermoncentral.com/newsletter_subscribe.asp ~~~~~~~ TRIVIA: Here are a couple of free PDF creators you can check out: PrimoPDF: http://www.primopdf.com/ CutePDF: http://www.cutepdf.com/ Source: TNPC Newsletter, http://www.tnpcnewsletter.com/ |
