~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS:
To be able to fill leisure intelligently is the last product of civilization, and at present very few people have reached this level. - Bertrand Russell, Conquest of Happiness (1930) ch. 14
~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS:

An old man who loved the Lord greatly was accustomed to spending many evening hours reading the Bible. He did not have much education but, because his heart was right with God and open to His Word, he seemed able to discover many rich veins in Scripture. One night at a church meeting the minister asked his audience to tell, in turn, some passage in the Bible that had been of special blessing to them. When the old man’s opportunity came, he said: “One of the expressions that means most to me is this: ‘And it came to pass.’ “

The minister asked him to explain.

“Well,” the old man said, “when trouble comes and I don’t know what to do, I remember that ‘it came to pass’ and so I know that whatever the trouble on any day, it isn’t here to stay.”

That is great faith, even though the exegesis is not all that it might be. Whatever your affliction may be, bear in mind that it is light in comparison with what our Lord suffered. It is only for a moment—“it came to pass”—and “works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” (2 Corinthians 4:17.)

~~~~~~~ THIS & THAT:
The Flu Hoe Down
Choose your partners, one and all
Aspirin, Advil, or Tylenol!
Now fling those covers with all you've got,
One minute cold, the next minute hot,
Circle right to the side of the bed,
Grab the tissues and Sudafed.
Back to the middle and don't goof off;
Hold your stomach and cough, cough, cough
Forget about slippers, dash down the hall,
Toss your cookies in the shower stall.
Remember others on the brink;
Wash your hands; wash the sink.
Wipe the doorknob, light switch too,
By George, you've got it,
You're doing the Flu!
P.S. Some like it cold, some like it hot; If you like neither, get the shot
~~~~~~~ KEEP SMILING:

A little boy asked his mother why the minister got a month's vacation while his dad only got two weeks. The mother answered, "Well, son, if he's a good minister, he needs it. If he isn't, the congregation needs it." - Garrison Keillor?
