WITandWISDOM(tm) - March 22, 2007 ISSN 1538-8794 ~~~~~~~ THOUGHTS: “The basic question is not how much of our money should we give to God, but how much of God’s money should we keep for ourselves.” - J. Oswald Sanders Submitted by Malladi Murthy in India ~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS: Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, and all of the others including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all repaired their boats and left. Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to persevere until the last possible moment. When the island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for help. Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, "Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you." Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel, "Vanity, please help me!" I can't help you Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered. Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, "Sadness, let me go with you." "Oh, Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!" Happiness passed by Love too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her! Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come Love, I will take you." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that he even forgot to ask the elder her name. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Love, realizing how much he owed the elder asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who helped me?" "It was Time," Knowledge answered. "Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?" Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is." First to say 'I do' were grandparents Gheorghe Ghinea, 60 and Elena, 58, who have been together for 40 years. Then, parents Sinoris Ghinea and Rita, who are now in their 40s and have six children together, tied the knot. Finally, their son Laurentiu Ghinea, 21, married his girlfriend, Mariana, 20. The three couples, from Targu Carbunesti in Gorj county, said they never had the time to go to the registry office before. But they admitted a new law in Romania, under which newly married couples get 200 euros, had also played a part. Lazăr Nicolae, a worker from the town hall in Targu Carbunesti, said 27 weddings had been held already this year. "If it wasn't for this money we wouldn't have had so many weddings. We now have in one month, the number we used to have in three," he said. There are only enough cars in the parking lot for half of us!" Submitted by Malladi Murthy in India ~~~~~~~ TRIVIA: Surfin' The Web - Music Map I'm a big music lover. Unfortunately, the music I prefer is seldom heard on the local stations in my area, so any tool I can use to find artists I've never heard of that play the kind of music I like is a great tool for me. Music Map is one such tool. You simply type in the name of a band or artist and it creates a "map" of names. The names are of other bands and artists that other people like who also liked the band or artist you entered. The closer other names are on the map to the name you entered, the closer the relationship is supposed to be. On my first try I found a handful of musical talent that I didn't know about but liked when I checked out some of their music on Amazon. Follow up tries yielded the same results. It's hard to figure out some of the musical relationships, but it's a good tool for discovering artists you weren't aware of that you will like. http://www.music-map.com/ Source: Internet Tutor, http://www.gophercentral.com/sub/sub-tutor.html |
