Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. - Joshua J. Marine

Soon after Rabbi Mendel Kaplan passed away, someone brought his car to the auto shop he had always used.

One of the workers recognized Rabbi Mendel’s car and asked: "Where is the Rabbi?"

When told that Rabbi Mendel had passed away, the man sat down and began to cry. "I know all I am is a simple mechanic, but the Rabbi treated me like I was a special human being," he explained. "He used to take an interest in my life and that made me feel like a million dollars. No one in the world made me feel as good as the Rabbi did."

A WITandWISDOM subscribe comments about yesterday’s “Keep Smiling.”

My daughter and I had a similar experience...

In San Antonio, TX, we wanted to see the Alamo. We arrived the night before and had no idea where it was. We left our hotel room and walked over to a cab stand and got in. The driver started off and asked where to?

We said, the Alamo. He burst out laughing and drove around to the other side of the hotel and stopped. We were only on the other side of the hotel from it! He was nice enough not to charge us. We really felt like tourists then!!

NOAA Ocean Explorer

Welcome to Ocean Explorer! Are you ready to dive right in and explore the depths of the sea? I know I am, especially after I found out that Narwhals is one of the explorations. I’ve loved narwhals since I was a little girl and now I can learn all about them and their migration process. That’s pretty neat, right? And that’s only the tip of the iceberg, so to speak! – Amanda
