~~~~~~~ SPECIAL THOUGHTS:
A friend of mine was offered a generous, but early, retirement package. After a great deal of introspection and soul searching, she accepted the offer. Last Saturday, twenty of her friends threw a party in celebration of her retirement and the new, uncharted territory of the next phase her life.
Just as the festivities were winding down, we had a wonderful experience. Someone suggested we each tell the story of how we met our friend. Everyone in the room gave their complete attention to the person speaking. Some of the stories were laugh so hard you lose weight funny. Other stories were so heart touching we had to find a box of Kleenex to pass around. All of the stories were a testament to the positive impact the guest of honor had on the teller's life.
None of us knew the depth of the gift we were giving our friend until the last story was told. It was then, she revealed some troubling thoughts that been eating away at her heart and soul. She'd been plagued by an uneasy realization that her life didn't have any specific point to it, no real or definite purpose. She didn't believe she had any special talents or had done anything of importance.
Our stories put those thoughts to rest.
How often do we hold on to our innermost thoughts about someone, only to release them when that person passes away?
Too often.
How often do we hear a beautiful eulogy and wish the person being honored was there to hear the words?
Too often.
How often do we tell people the story of their importance in our lives?
Not often enough.
Living in love and loving life,
~~~~~~~ TRIVIA:

How long can you write with a pencil?

The average lead pencil will draw a line 35 miles long or write approximately 50,000 English words. More than 2 billion pencils are manufactured in the U.S. annually. If these were laid end to end, they would circle the earth nine times.
